ArtWorks is a life-changing experience for City of Buffalo and Erie County teens. This youth development initiative utilizes the power of the arts to transform young lives and enrich the community. For 4 weeks during the summer, high school students apprenticed with a professional artist to gain arts, life, employment, as well as college readiness skills.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Young Audiences of Western New York transformed the ArtWorks apprenticeship program onto virtual platforms for the first time. Through the use of Zoom Video Conferencing and Google Classroom, Apprentices joined virtual workshops led by the Master Teaching Artist and Young Audiences staff all from the safety of their homes. The Summer session focused on photography, videography, live streaming, and editing content led by Master Teaching Artist Aitina Fareed-Cooke, founder of Get Fokus’d Productions.
Throughout the session, the Apprentices collected vastly creative images and videos and we want to share them with YOU!
In the virtual gallery below, you will be immersed in the creative images captured by the Summer ArtWorks Apprentices. To navigate, all you need to do is click on one of the Apprentices names and you will be taken to their gallery that is filled with photos and videos from their time this Summer!
ArtWorks was made possible by our partnership with the City of Buffalo Mayor’s Summer Youth Internship Program and additional funding provided by Erie County Youth Services.
