This program investigates pivot points in Art History and Mathematics. Student artists are invited to appreciate the timeline that evolves fine art from Realism to the Digital Age. Some activities include Art History instruction comparing pointillism to pixels. Student artists are encouraged to find the construction of patterns in nature and architecture utilizing the Fibonacci Spiral and the golden ratio, establishing a strong math and art relationship. We will also use grids and tessellations or fractals to create community installations. We will compare and identify with student artists’ works through regular class critiques to evaluate the understanding of the lesson.
