Young Audiences of Western New York, Inc. is a not-for-profit arts-in-education organization dedicated to bringing the arts to children.

This site features our entire program catalog as well as descriptions of our major projects and general information about the organization. Our catalog includes a new Artist Section that features new artists for the 2008-2009 school year. New programs will be posted as they are added to our roster throughout the year.

Check our site periodically for news about upcoming events, new artists and programs, and special projects that may be of interest to you or your organization.


Erie Canal origami mural

Above: An origami mural of the Erie Canal created by students at H. O. Brumsted Elementary School through an Empire State Partnership funded by the New York State Council on the Arts. Students worked with YA-WNY Teaching Artist Kyoko Roszmann and the school's art specialist teacher. The mural was also featured on the cover of The Buffalo News' 2007/2008 School Calendar and Resource Guide.

WNY Rural Teaching Artist Development Program

With a grant from the Dana Foundation, Young Audiences of Western New York, Inc. is training ten performing artists living in rural areas as teaching artists this year. Once trained, these performing artists will have the opportunity to provide programs in schools and community centers throughout Western New York, with a specific focus on their region. Check back soon to learn about these new teaching artists on our roster.

YA-WNY Residencies in Buffalo Schools

The Buffalo Teacher Resource Center and YA-WNY are pleased to provide opportunities to bring exceptional arts-in-education programming to Buffalo schools.

The Buffalo Teacher Resource Center provides funding to Buffalo schools support two YA-WNY programs: The Phonics Program: Alphabet Awareness and the Erie Canal Residency.  These multi-week residencies integrate the arts into core curriculum subjects, with a special emphasis on literacy skills, and support the NYS learning standards.  If your application is approved, YA-WNY teaching artists will come to your school to enhance student learning with engaging workshops and performances.
