Established in 2000, Configuration Dance Theatre is a contemporary ballet company with dynamic and diverse programs, now based in Buffalo. The ensemble combines classical ballet’s formal traditions with modern dance’s dynamic expressiveness to create dramatic and emotional performances. Driven to explore the creative possibilities within the art form, Configuration Dance, under the artistic directorship of Joseph Cipolla, draws inspiration from a roster of internationally renowned dancers, choreographers and artists.
CDT performs in a variety of theaters and venues locally and across the country. Its principal dancers and soloists have been affiliated with the Dance Theater of Harlem, Susan Marshall Company, Atlanta Ballet, Stuttgart Ballet, Monte Carlo Ballet, American Ballet Theater, and the New York City Ballet, among others.
CDT is also known for its highly successful apprentice program, which allows younger artists an opportunity to work with established dancers and choreographers.
Configuration Dance workshops are led by Joe Cipolla or Company Manager, Kolleen Fischer.
