Njozi Poets/Njozi Chorus

Ntare Ali Gault, founder and organizer of the Njozi Poets, is a spoken-word artist, actor, playwright and author. His book, "The Sun Will Rise: A Memoir of an Urban Family" was published in 2009. He also recently appeared in Ujima Theatre Company' s productions of "The Visit" and "The Green Pastures." Gault has won poetry slams throughout North America and has been a featured at many venues and colleges, including the Legacy House Café and Books in St. Louis, Mo.

Gault has conducted workshops for Young Audiences of WNY, the Alternative Literacy Program (ALPS), Musicians United for Superior Education (MUSE) and Just Buffalo Literacy Center. Some of his former students from these programs have progressed to become professional performers.

He is a prolific writer, and is in the process of producing his next play, "Grit" and his one man show "Ancestral Links: Love and other Revolutionary Mumblings."

Poetic Voices add to wish list

Combining traditional and slam poetry, this performance includes ensemble pieces and compelling solos. Dance and acapella vocals are also incorporated. Political and modern in theme, the artists often reflect on street realities and global concerns. A question and answer session follows the performance, allowing students to gain first-hand knowledge of this dynamic group.
